IS THIS THE LARGEST ASSAULT COURSE IN THE WORLD?

In terms of content. Definitely.

IS THIS THE TOUGHEST ASSAULT COURSE IN THE WORLD?

This is 200 obstacles over 20 miles but it’s not impossible, 90% of competitors in 2013 crossed that finishline.

I HAVE NEVER RUN 20 MILES. IS THIS FOR ME?

Probably. You don’t need to “be a runner” to attempt this event. Our events are designed to be attainable; not impossible. This is certainly a massive effort for anyone and if you have no running experience, you will need to step up with some serious training to get you to the Start line. You should work on some core-conditioning and upper body strength too. However, it’s doable with mental preparation and a good physical training regime. In order to have a crack at the Full Mucker you will need to be in good physical condition and you should definitely aim to get a half-marathon distance event under your belt, plus one or two obstacle races.

WHY DO YOU OFFER 2 DISTANCES?

This is a hallmark of Rat Race Events: We provide the opportunity for people from all ends of the athletic spectrum to get involved and attempt the event. In the case of Dirty Weekend, we know that there are those who want to attempt the absolute biggest, baddest and boldest. There will also be those who want something that doesn’t quite have the same level of running. Hence the Full Mucker and the Half Mucker.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TAKING PART AS A SOLO OR A TEAM OF 5 OR 10?

Pretty much just that. You run solo, or you run as a team. There are chunky discounts for teams of 5 or 10 as we absolutely know the appeal of running these events as a group of mates of colleagues and making a weekend of it. Teams of 5 or 10 do not need to stick together.

WHY CAN’T I ENTER AS A TEAM OF 3 OR 7 THEN?

Well, the discount is for a team of 5 or a team of 10. It’s just easier for us to administrate this way and helps us to provide these great value discounts. If you don’t know who will be in your team yet, don’t worry. You don’t have to provide all the names when you register the team. They can come later and be added up to 2 weeks pre-event

WHAT IF I CANNOT SWIM?

You will get wet and you won’t be able to touch the bottom in a good few instances. It will definitely help if you can swim and whilst weak swimmers will be OK, total non-swimmers will struggle. But you will be issued with life-jackets.

IS CAMPING INCLUDED IN MY ENTRY FEE AND WHERE IS THE CAMPING?

Camping is not included in your entry fee and must be purchased separately. This is a change from last year as it will enable us to anticipate the numbers and provide the correct facilities. You will not be able to purchase camping tickets on the day.

There are 2 camping options:
£5 basic camping with portaloos
£15 premium camping with dedicated showers and flushing loos

ARE THERE SHOWERS IN THE CAMP-SITE?

There are showers available in the premium campsite for runners who are staying with us. For everyone else there will be a bloke with a hose!

WHAT FOOD AND DRINK DO YOU OFFER ON THE COURSE?

We have Pit Stops out on the course and at these locations there will be water, toilets and medical aid. We will offer cakes, sweets, fruit and small snacks. We will not offer sports nutrition as this is down to very personal choice and you should therefore plan to bring your own sports nutrition gels, powders, bars and other supplies with you. Rat Race Store will be present at the Start-line with a selection of user-friendly sports nutrition products for sale. Our range can also be browsed here.

WHAT SORT OF FOOTWEAR DO I NEED FOR THIS EVENT?

We recommend good off-road running footwear. The majority of the event is off-road with some tarmac featured here and there. We recommend taking a look at our kit picks

DO I NEED ANY SPECIALIST GEAR FOR THIS EVENT?

Not really. You do need to consider what you wear of course and remember that you will be getting very wet and very muddy too. So don’t wear the Sunday Best. Or do. Fancy Dress is encouraged provided that you bear in mind the nature of the course laid out before you. Mankini’s optional.

HOW LONG DOES THE PARTY GO ON FOR?

We will be open until midnight with a monster beer tent and a headline act on our mainstage until 11.

CAN I BRING MY FRIENDS OR FAMILY ALONG?IS THERE A CHARGE?

Yep for sure. We like our Dirty Weekends to be a social business. Entry to the After-party for friends and family costs $20 and covers access to the event arena for Friday and Saturday.

WHAT ABOUT MY DOG?

Unfortunately no dogs are allowed at the event. No exceptions. Sorry.

HOW MUCH IS PARKING?WHY DOES IT COST MORE TO ENTER THE FIRST WAVE?

The extra revenue from the increased entry fees in wave 1 is being ploughed straight back into the prize pot. Quite simply, someone (or rather, 6 folk), will win that cash. There is a $5000 prize pool up for grabs across 1st, 2nd and 3rd for men and women.
